Girl's Engineering Club
GEC (Girl's Engineering Club) is an outreach program organized at Koan school, aimed at engaging more girls in STEM fields. Only 24% of workers in STEM fields are women, and GEC is an attempt to subvert, or at least counterbalance the culture bias associated with females studying or interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. GIC conducts weekly experiments over a variety of subjects, such as Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Chemistry Labs, LEGO Mindstorms sessions, as well as specialized activities in engineering and physics.
